Confidential Clinical Pathology Laboratory Project
The 10,000-square-foot, two-story facility marks the first time the client's researchers have access to a cyclotron and a connected vivarium, which can house a wide range of non-human species in one place.
This facility brings informatics, radiochemistry, and molecular imaging under one roof, which no other facility can do. The center will handle six to 10 projects any month, with 20 to 25 individuals dedicated to the center.
The project was built in conjunction with INVICRO, a Boston-based imaging services and software company, and 3D Imaging, a Little Rock, AK-based company that provides research services for designing and developing standard and customized radiopharmaceuticals.
This project included renovating a portion of the first-floor space for a clinical pathology laboratory, and the rest of the building received updates to the animal room finishes, drainage systems, lighting systems, and a complete mechanical replacement.
The building was occupied by animals (mainly on the second floor) and several lab spaces, so noise and dust control were always a priority. Not only was this a factor in its effect on personnel, but it was also a concern from an animal welfare standpoint. Careful coordination was necessary to ensure that animal studies were not disturbed.
