    CSM Group worked with Kerkstra Precast in a Design-Assist role to detail approximately 22,000 square feet of exterior precast panel for an expansion to an animal facility in Southwest Michigan to house Feline and Canine studies.

    The panel is designed to support structural steel beams at the perimeter, eliminating the need for exterior columns. The animal room suites comprised a total of 18 animal rooms with associated anterooms, procedure rooms, surgery, cagewash and office spaces. The precast finish was designed to match the existing cast-in-place retaining walls in texture and relief. These factors required precise coordination with the structural engineer and architect for the placement of beam pockets and openings.

    Livestock Facility

    CSM Group led a Design-Build 52,000-square-foot facility for non-biocontainment livestock on PK studies. The facility comprised four self-contained animal suites with large animal pens, a feed room, procedure room and associated support, and amenities spaces.

    Calf Facility

    CSM Group led a Design-Build 21,000-square-foot facility for controlled environment calf studies. The facility was designed to hold 120 calves in individual pens along with milk preparation, storage, locker rooms, and office spaces.
